Popular Urdu entertainment channel, Geo UK is celebrating the launch of singing talent show ‘Pakistani Idol’ with a daily three-hour freeview slot on Sky Digital.

This is the first time that the series has debuted in Pakistan, which has been described by the media as a watershed in the history of music in Pakistan.

‘Pakistan Idol’ will see 15 and 30 years-old vie for the title of ‘Pakistani Idol’.

The format – which is already broadcast to 150 other countries around the world – sees a judging panel selecting a group of finalists from open auditions who will progress to weekly live shows.

Judges include solo singer Hadiqa Kiani, Junoon frontman Ali Azmat and presenter Bushra Ansari. The show is being hosted by Mohib Mirza.

‘Pakistani Idol’ airs Friday and Sunday nights at 21:00 and will broadcast free-to-air on Sky channel 815 until the finale on Thursday 24th April 2014. Geo UK is currently free-to-air daily between 19:00 and 21:00.
