PTC Punjabi has finally launched in the UK on Sky Digital today.

The channel is available free-to-air, replacing Music India on channel 822 on the Sky line-up.

PTC Punjabi UK programming will consist of a mixture of music, religious, reality TV and dramas to cater for the whole family. Having exclusive access to PTC Punjabi’s launch schedule, BizAsia can reveal that the Live Gurbani from Amritsar’s Harmandir Sahib will continue in its 04:00 – 08:00 slot in the morning and 16:30 – 18:30 in the evening.

Furthermore, the channel will broadcast news bulletins at 08:00,11:00, 18:30 and 03:00 time slots. Other bands are filled with music related shows ‘Bhangra Rocks’ at 08:30 and 02:00 (60 minutes), ‘Hit Squad’ at 10:30, 19:30 and 22:30 (90 minutes), ‘Non Stop Hits’ and ‘Film Songs’ at 14:30 (120 minutes), plus ‘Night Out’ weekdays at 23:30 (90 minutes).

The channel will also broadcast four blockbuster Punjabi movies per weekend. Films will be telecast at 13:00 and 20:00 on Saturday and Sundays. PTC Punjabi has recently acquired a slew of Punjabi films which it will announce in due course.

PTC Punjabi will broadcast talent show ‘Voice Of Punjabi’ at 20:00 (120 minutes) Monday through to Thursday. Popular chat based shows like ‘PTC Superstar’ will air Saturdays at 09:30 and ‘The Masters’ weekdays at 19:00. Chart show ‘Preeto’ will take the Friday 21:30 slot.

All in all, the channel is set to rival the likes of more established players in the UK including ZEE Punjabi (premium) and free-to-air channels like Brit Asia TV, Sikh Channel and Sangat TV (religious output).
PTC Punjabi will be available free-to-air on Sky Digital channel 822.

PTC Punjabi was initially set to launch on Monday 4th February but was postponed for two weeks due to a technical issue.
